The original zeros are SOARING !!

UPDATED JANUARY 1ST 2014

Some of you may have been around when I first started this blog, in the fall of 2011.  Until then, the older children (aged 6+) shared a grant - the grant grew until one of the older children were chosen - and then their family got whatever was in the grant at the time. Then, the grant re-set to zero, and grew again until another child was chosen.

This all changed, though, in September 2011, when Reece's Rainbow decided (thankfully), that each older child would have their own grant.  Unfortunately, this meant that all of the kids had ZERO in their grants to start with - just as if they were newly listed.  And so this blog was born - to try and zero the zeros of all of the 171 older kids. Amazingly, we did manage to do it - and then, over time,  we got the kids all up to $20 in their grants - and then up to $50 in their grants. Baby steps !! Since then, the goal has been to get them all up to and beyond $100 - while at the same time, trying to zap the zeros of the newly listed older kids AND then get them up to $100 !!!  Sometimes I feel like I am banging my head against a wall - but then I look back and see how far we have come, and I am truly amazed !!
Below is a list of the older children who were listed and had donation buttons in September 2011 - every single child listed below and precisely ZERO in their grants just over 2 years ago.  I updated the list in September 2012, and then again this last week of May 2013, again on September 22nd 2013, and now today, January 1st 2014.

Most of the children have a much more substantial grant now - many, thanks to New Hope grants, gifted to them from children no longer available for adoption, due to the Ru$$ian adoption ban.

MANY children  have been adopted and are already home with their families !!!

Many have families actively working to bring them home !!!

Look at the list - scroll down - LOOK at all the RED !!!!!

LOOK at the numbers - the grants - just look !!
These kids had ZERO 2 years ago !!!!

I will admit that I AM sad to see that 7 of the original zeros do still have less than $100 in their grants. I think we'll have to do something about that really soon!!  For now - though - let's rejoice in the RED names - those that have been found - as well as the large grants that many of the children now have !!

We may only take baby steps - but just watch those children soar as their grants grow and grow and grow !!!

Please - do what you can to SHARE these children !!  Click on any name in the list and it should take you to their profile, where you can see, in most cases, a picture, as well as a description.

Please - share - it's the only way their families will find them !!

Please - if you can - donate !!

Pray !

Neville - revisited

Do you know anyone named Neville ? Probably not.
Probably when you hear the name you think of this Neville.

Neville Longbottom, of Harry Potter fame - in the first books he was a minor character, with his disorganised ways, who wasn't a particularly good student. In the end, though, he turned into quite the hero !

How about this Neville ?

I've personally never heard of him, but found him in a google search. He is Neville Brand, an actor. He had many small rolls on TV and in the movies, his last appearance in a film being in 1985.

Another Neville -

Any guesses ? No ? This is Neville Chamberlain - he was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1937 - 1940. He declared war on Germany in the Second World War. He was succeeded by the more famous Winston Churchill. I should probably know more about him - but the only reason I've really heard of him is because the next Neville in my list was named after him.

Well, OK - this isn't Neville, but if you lived in or around his village, you'd have seen this old truck puttering around, delivering firewood or lumber, or even helping people move house. It - and he - were quite the workers !! Three wheel cars used to be a lot more common in England - but this truck was pretty rare !

This is the Neville who used to drive it.

Neville Scrupps - not a famous Neville, just my dad. He was born in 1932, and spent his working years as a farm laborer, fork-lift truck driver, and then he had his own small business, selling firewood and lumber. Not famous like the Nevilles above, but he was well known in his and the surrounding villages. He was an unassuming man, living a pretty simple life, happy to be working and with his family. When he got sick, he made sure that my mum was settled into a new, smaller home. They moved into the village, so she was within walking distance of the stores. He waited until they were fully moved in, and had the yard just as they wanted it, before he drew his last breath a few weeks later, just before their 50th wedding anniversary, in May 2009

It's because of my dad that I advocated for THIS Neville until recently

This Neville isn't famous. He isn't a wizard, politician or actor.
He doesn't have a family.
Neville isn't even his real name - just a pseudonym used by Reece's Rainbow to keep his true identity private. Right now, this Neville is, in the eyes of his country, a nothing. He was left behind at the hospital when he and his twin were born. Left behind because he wasn't perfect. In many countries of the world, people still believe that children with special needs have no worth. No doubt the doctors and nurses at the hospital encouraged his parents to leave him. I can't imagine how they felt - how they still feel. Do they think they did what was best for him, that he'd be better off in an institution ? Did they leave him thinking that he'd die soon, and they couldn't face the heartache ? We'll never know. What we do know is that this Neville needs a family.
He has had two unsuccessful surgeries to place a shunt, to drain the fluid from his brain. He is delayed because of the hydrocepalus - at
14 months, he isn't yet crawling, and can only sit with support. Despite his problems, he is described as being a happy, calm baby, who smiles whenever he gets attention. He needs further surgery to get that shunt working. He needs love, and more of that attention he craves. He needs therapy to overcome his delays. He needs a family.

Unfortunately, this Neville is no longer available for adoption by Americans, due to a recent adoption ban in his country.  I hope and pray that a family in his own country will step up and save him. Very unlikely, but so much better than the alternative.
Sadly, I wasn't able to help this Neville find a family.

Which brings me to the latest Neville  !!

30527121539 Neville

THIS Neville is also an orphan, living in an orphanage in Eastern Europe.
He has some mild delays, in height and weight - and his only special need is that he has Celiac Disease !!  This is SO easily controlled by diet - chances are, every single one of us knows at least one person with Celiac Disease !!
THIS Neville will become available for adoption when he turns 5, in September.
Can you help ?
Donate to his grant at Reece's rainbow ?
SHARE his profile ?

Neville is adorable, he's waiting for his new mommy and daddy to find him - AND he thinks bow ties are cool !!!

Are you his mommy ? His daddy ? Do you know someone who might be ?
Please - share his face and profile - somewhere out there his family is waiting - and you might be the one to help them find him !

Share - pray - donate !!
