Are we allowed favorites ??

I know we probably shouldn't, but if we didn't have our favorites, who would we shout out for ?  As hard as I try to shout out for every single one of the 150+, I can't. Sure, I can share a few faces here and there, but getting everyone out there to see every single one of them is just about impossible.

So, I can share a few at a time. But how to decide who to share and when ?

First, I tried sharing those with ZERO.  Unfortunately, every time I so much as blink, more children are listed or get donation buttons and more zeros arrive.
I , personally, think there should be a Reece's Rainbow rule where NO child can ever have a zero. A special fund, so every child gets at least $10 as soon as they are listed - how cool would that be ??  LOL

Anyhow - my choice of children to highlight today. I'm going to go through all of the listings and pick out my personal favorites - you know, those favorites that I really shouldn't have, but really can't help myself.
Some of them have been listed for what seems forever, some are fairly new listings. Some you may have seen before, some maybe not.
ALL of them need families.
ALL of them need more money in their grants so their families can find them.
They ALL have less than $100 in their grants :(
ALL of them need to be shared so they can be found by their families.

Please, do what you can to help them out - and remember, if you donate or share, let me know, so I can enter you into the great Toy and Book Giveaway !
Angelia is 11 years old, and has been living in an institution for 5 years already. She needs out !!

Daniel

Another 11 year old - in fact, he was born 2 days after Angelia !
I love the long, detailed description of Daniel on RR - he sounds like so much fun and what a wonderful son he would be !!

Adam

Yet another 11 year old living in an institution.  It seems his is a nice institution - but, it's still an institution, and he needs out - he needs a family.  He attends class in a local village, though it sounds like he is a typical boy in that he prefers the non academic activities. I have to smile every time I see his picture - in his older picture, he was sitting in the exact same position :)

Randall
Randall was born in 1999, so has been waiting a LONG time for a family !!  I gave him his RR name, so I have a soft spot for him :)

Anna

Anna is 10 years old - look at that smile - who could resist ??

Carissa

Oh, Carissa.  Blind, neglected, separated from her twin - she has been so traumatized in her 10 years - surely there's a family out there who can help her heal and learn what love is ??

Corwin

Corwin is a fairly new listing - he's  7 years old - and I think he would make a wonderful brother to Ewan, below !!

Ewan

Just love this kid !!

Jordan

Sweet Jordan has been waiting forever - are you his momma ??

Glenn

Glenn had Down Syndrome as well as FAS and a heart condition - but he still sounds like he's doing great ! Someone saw him this year, and apparently he's a hugger !! :)

Maksim

It's all about the eyes !!!!

Noel

Noel has significant needs - but she still needs a family to love and care for her - who knows what she could be capable of when surrounded by love ??

Alisha

Another little girl with many needs - but I just know she would make a wonderful daughter !!

Colin

Colin has been listed forever - have you ever seen him before ?
He'll turn 10 years old just before Christmas - and has great potential, his only problem being cerebral palsy affecting his legs !!

Leo

Another young man who will turn 10 soon.  His needs are mostly physical, and he is happy and sociable. What a GREAT son he could be !

Sealey

An almost 8 year old with many needs - but the love of a family is priceless - do you know them ??

Mark

I just love Mark's cheeky little grin - I bet he's a bundle of fun !!

Yelena

Am I the only one who thinks Yelena is too adorable for words ??

Well, I tried to pick just a few of my favorites. I could have gone on and on and listed more and more, but I tried to limit myself to save anyone from getting glazed eyes from seeing too many faces all at once.
You've probably noticed that there are alot more boys than girls - sorry, but I just seem drawn to boys more. I have a 9 year old son, maybe that's why - but I also know that boys get passed over more than girls.

All I ask of you is that you take the time to look at the children above - read their profiles - pray for them - maybe donate to them - and, easiest of all - SHARE them.  Their parents ARE out there - and they can't find them if they can't see them - so the more we share, the more chance they have of finding their families.

if you find in in your heart to donate, or share, remember to leave a comment with who you donated to and how much, so I can enter you into the Toy Giveaway !!!

The $10 Kids Re-Visited

Way back in the middle of the summer - July 21st, to be exact - I wrote a post about the $10 kids.

At the time, there were 26 older children listed on Reece's Rainbow who had just $10 in their grants.

So - where are they now ?

Two months later - how have those grants grown ??

Out of the 26 - ONE of them has been found !!!

Eight of them have a little more in their grants than they did back in July - including ONE who has $110  !!!

Sadly - 17 of them still have just $10 in their grants.

15 of them are boys.

I wonder if anyone has even bothered to give them so much as a second glance ??

Have you ?

Yes, they're older.

Not so cute as the little babies or adorable toddlers.

Does that mean they need less love ?

Does that mean they don't deserve a chance ?

Does that mean they should just be ignored ?

I don't think so.

And I don't think you do, either.

I think you just haven't noticed them.

Please, take some time to look at them - click on their names - read their profiles.

Share them.

Donate, if you can.

Just - don't ignore them.

They deserve so much more than that.

Seventeen children.

Overlooked by so many.

Please share.

Donate.

Pray.

Or do all three !!!

Remember - if you do donate or share (and why wouldn't you ??)
you get entries into the great

Lost and forgotten

So how is your day going ? Did you sleep well ?
Wake up in a nice warm home, even though it's getting chilly overnight these days ?
Did you enjoy a yummy breakfast, with a cup of hot tea or coffee ?
 How about your babies.
Did they wake up crying in the middle of the night, maybe because their diaper was wet, or they were hungry ?
Did you get up, change their diaper, give them a bottle or a sip of water ?  Then watch them fall back to sleep in their cute little jammies ?
What are your kids doing now ?
Playing with one of the many toys they have ?
Watching cartoons on TV ?
Playing video games ?
Or simply snuggling on the couch with you ?

Could you bear the thought of them spending all day and night in the same diaper ?
How about them spending all their time laying in a crib.
Alone.
Being fed from a propped bottle, most of it dripping down their chin.
Being hungry. All. The. Time.
No toys.
Nothing to do.
Sweating in the summers.
Freezing in the winters.
Surviving.
If they're lucky.

This is reality for far too many children.
Children born with a difference.
With cerebral palsy.
Down Syndrome.
Spina Bifida.
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Facial deformities.
Missing limbs.
HIV+

Hundreds of thousands of children living around the world.
Existing.
Children abandoned by their families, told they'd be better off in an institution.
Children with no one to love or be loved by.
Children with no hope.
Children who will die, from neglect, from untreated medical issues.
Through NO fault of their own.

I am but one voice - but I am one who cares.

I care about all the children - especially the older, forgotten children - who DO have a chance of freedom, a chance to escape those cribs and institutions.

Many of the forgotten children are available for adoption - and the one thing I can do to help is to advocate for them, shout out for them, and try and raise money for them

Adoption is expensive. Families who CAN care for a child physically, emotionally and financially more often than not don't have the $30,000+ that is needed to pay for an international adoption.
Families who want to adopt, but are afraid to commit because of the cost.
Families who would welcome the lost, forgotten, neglected children into their hearts, if they could.

What can I do ?
I can advocate, I can share, I can help raise the money.

I support Reece's Rainbow, who's mission statement is as follows

"The mission of Reece's Rainbow is to rescue orphans with Down syndrome through the gift of adoption, to raise awareness for all of the children who are waiting in 25 countries around the world, and to raise funds as adoption grants that help adoptive families afford the high cost of adopting these beautiful children."

Reece's Rainbow list hundred of children with special needs who are available for adoption around the world.
I know I can't save them all - but I can try.
My focus is the older children - over the age of 6.
Children who are still waiting for their forever family.
Children who have been passed over time and time again.
Children with next to nothing in their grants.

There are currently 151 children over the age of 6 listed on Reece's Rainbow who have less than $100 in their grants.

My current goal is to get them all up to $100 by Halloween.
That may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things - but every little helps.

I am currently running a fundraiser to benefit all 151.

You can go HERE to see the wonderful prizes available.

I don't ask for much - a $5 donation to ANY of the 151 children listed gets you one entry into the giveaway.
You can also share the giveaway - on Facebook, on Twitter, on your own blog - for a FREE entry !

You can win toys and books.
Christmas is coming - toys and books make wonderful gifts !!!

Please - do what you can - help out the lost, forgotten, passed over children
