Don't Panic

 

Have you ever read the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" ?

If not, you should.

 

The story follows the adventures of Arthur Dent, the last human who hitched a ride off Earth moments before it was destroyed to make way for an interstellar bypass.

 

"He learned that in many of the more relaxed civilizations on the Outer Eastern Rim of the Galaxy, the Hitchhiker's Guide has already supplanted the great Encyclopaedia Galactica as the standard repository of all knowledge and wisdom, for though it has many omissions and contains much that is apocryphal, or at least wildly inaccurate, it scores over the older, more pedestrian work in two important respects"

 First, it is slightly cheaper; and secondly it has the words

DON'T PANIC

inscribed in large friendly letters on its cover.

 

I am trying to follow instructions, and refrain from panicking.

 

However, I'm finding it increasingly impossible.

 

In case you weren't aware, on November 1st, the annual Angel Tree fundraiser will start. This is Reece's Rainbow's biggest fundraiser of the year.  During this time, advocates pledge to raise $1000 for their Angel Tree child's adoption grant.  While this is a truly wonderful time of the year, and something I participate in, it also means that less time is spent advocating for those not on the Angel Tree.  Several of the children below are lucky enough to be on the tree, and, all being well, their advocates will raise that $1000 for their grants.

 

However, the majority are NOT on the tree, and I know from years past that very few of the children you see below will see any movement in their grants between now and 2016.

 

This means that all the 139 children in BLACK won't have had one penny donated to them in almost a year.

 

This means that the 42 children with ZERO will still have ZERO in their grants as we ring in the New Year.

 

This also means that any children newly listed will, no doubt, have zero in their grants as we go into the New Year.

 

So - yes - while I try not to panic, it is almost inevitable that I WILL panic.

 

Please - help me out here.
