Soaring !!

I don't know about you, but I check the Reece's Rainbow web site several times a day - specifically the "My Family Found Me" link.  This is where children are moved to when a child is committed to by a family - when a family takes a leap of faith, and says THAT IS MY CHILD !!!

 

This is the link - MFFM - but, you don't really need to go and see - unless you want to - just look at these pictures

 

 

 

Do you see them ?  Do you see the children ? Do you see their faces ?  Do you see their eyes ?

 

All beautiful children - all over the age of 6 years old - ALL committed to within the last few weeks and months - all have families working towards bring them home !!

 

Do you see ??  ALL OLDER children !

 

ALL chosen !!

 

It blows my mind.

 

There are more - go to the link - scroll down - and see all of the children who, as you read this, have families fundraising, gathering paperwork, going through trainings, re-arranging bedrooms, buying clothes, preparing siblings, losing sleep and working so very hard to get their children home !!!

 

Unbelievable !!

 

As I spend my time trying to grow the grants of the older children - others are seeing those children and saying MINE !!!

 

Totally, amazingly, wonderful !!

 

While I know that moms and dads don't pick their sons and daughters because of the size of their grant - I do know that it helps.

 

Every single penny, every single dollar, goes towards the ransom to bring their children home. 

 

Below, you will find the most updated list of older children (age 6 and above), who have less than $100 in their grants.

 

Those in purple had less than $100 on January 26th this year - but have been chosen and have families working to bring them home !!

 

Those in red had less than $100 in their grants on January 26th, but have since then jumped that $100 wall !!

 

Most of the children with $5 or less have been recently listed on Reece's Rainbow, and so haven't had a chance for their grants to grow yet.

 

Most of the children with more than $5 have been listed for quite a while - those with just one number next to their name have had ZERO donations since January 26th

(and for some, it has been MUCH longer - weeks and months - since anyone donated to them)

One child.

I have been such a bad blogger recently - kind of been in a funk - every time I sit down to blog, I get so overwhelmed, as there are so many different directions I want to go in - can't decide what to do - and then give up.

 

BAD blogger. 

 

I want to blog about SO many children.

 

Girls. Boys. 

Those with just $5 in their grants.

Those so close to leaping the $100 wall.

Those still hovering in the middle.

Those who have been FOUND.

Those who have jumped the wall. 

Those newly listed.

Those who were once zeros, and are now home !!

Those with cerebral palsy.

Down Syndrome.

Albinism.

Spina Bifida.

FAS.

HIV+.

Deaf.

Blind.

Developmental delays.

Autism.

Hydrocephalus.

Cornelia DeLange Syndrome.

 

SO many children.

 

SO much to think about, so many angles to write a blog post from, so many wonderful, beautiful children - and I can't even come up with the words to advocate for them.

 

BAD blogger !

 

So - for now - I'm not going to try and get fancy, not going to try and get to the bottom of why some children are found by their families as soon as their profile appears, and why some languish forever, unloved, overlooked.

 

For NOW I am going to rejoice.

 

One child, who was passed over so many times.

 

One child, who was shouted about so much by so many.

 

One child, who was fully funded yet STILL passed over.

 

One child - THE child - the one who started me on the road to shouting for the least of the least.

 

The ONE child who stole my heart, who broke my heart -

 

That one child has been FOUND by his family.

 

He has a family working as we speak to gather the necessary documents, to do all that international adoption entails - a family who will be bringing him home.

 

One child - who tomorrow will spend his 12th birthday in an institution.

 

One child

 

 

Who will spend his 13th birthday next year surrounded by his family.

 

Surrounded by love.

 

Heath has a family.

 

It's been a couple of weeks since they committed to bringing him home - yet I still get teary eyed when I remember.

 

One child.

 

One little boy, who gave me a voice - who gave me the strength to find the words to shout for the least of these.

 

So - although I may at times be a bad blogger - I will always come back.

 

I will shout for these kids.

 

I will show their faces.

 

I will beg for money.

 

Thank you Heath - without you, I would be nothing - I would have no voice - I would know nothing about these children.

The $5 Kids

 

 

Did you know, that of all of the older kids listed on Reece's Rainbow, there are 42 who only have $5 in their adoption grants ?

 

What are the chances of them being chosen for adoption with so little ?

 

Most of these children have been listed within the past few weeks and months.

 

They have all been passed over by who knows how many people ?

 

Why ?

 

They're older. Less appealing and cute than the little ones, so less likely to get donations.

 

Adoptive families don't have thousands and thousands of dollars laying around to fund their adoption.  I'm pretty sure that seeing just $5 in a child's grants means that many families can't even consider them.

 

I have been able, thankfully, to zero many zeros in the past few weeks, often on the day the children are listed.  However, I don't have the funds to keep adding to every child's grant, as much as I would like to !!  I am SO proud to see there are NO older children with zero in their grants at the moment ! 

 

Thank you to all who have helped zap those zeros !!

 

Now - who would like to help the $5 kids grow their grants just a little ?

 

Can we get them up to $10 ?

 

All it would take is 42 people to donate $5 to each child.

 

Or 21 people to donate $10 !!

 

That's NOTHING in the grand scheme of things !!

 

I do understand that not everyone can donate - I really do.

 

BUT - everyone has the ability to share.

Or look through the list of children and share just one child.

 

However you want to do it - just do it - help a child today !!
